Terms of Use

Last updated: 13 July 2026

1. About these terms

These terms govern the use of https://lawapprenticeships.co.uk (the "Platform"), operated by Data Law Limited, trading as Datalaw, registered in England and Wales (company number 03502562), whose registered office is at Hubsquared, Baltic Triangle, Bridgewater Street, Liverpool L1 0AR ("we", "us"). They apply to candidates and to law firms ("firms"). Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle personal data and form part of the picture but are not contractual conditions. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

2. Candidate accounts

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create a candidate account.
  • You are responsible for your account credentials and for the accuracy of your profile. You confirm that the information in your profile, CV, assessments and applications is true and your own.
  • Where you provide referee details, you confirm your referees have agreed to be contacted by us for a reference.
  • You can close your account at any time; our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of your CV, photo, video introduction and other content you upload. You grant us the licence needed to operate the service: to store your content, process it as the Privacy Policy describes (including AI reading of CVs), and show it to our recruitment team and to firms in connection with roles. We never use your content for advertising.

4. The service

The Platform is a matching service. We use automated scoring, human recruiter review and firm decisions as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not guarantee that you will be matched, shortlisted, invited, interviewed or hired, and we are not a party to any employment arrangement you enter with a firm. If you are hired, your apprenticeship training may be delivered by Datalaw or by another training provider — that choice belongs to the firm, and any training arrangement (including one delivered by Datalaw) is separate from these terms and governed by its own agreement and privacy information. Where a role includes an assessment, you must complete it yourself without assistance; assessments completed dishonestly may lead to removal from the Platform.

5. Firm accounts

  • Firm accounts must be created by someone authorised to act for the firm, with accurate details including the firm's SRA number where applicable.
  • Fees for firm services are as set out at the point of purchase or in your order with us, and are payable by the methods shown (card payments are processed by Stripe). Except where these terms or the law say otherwise, fees are non-refundable.

6. Firms' use of candidate information

Candidate information received through the Platform (profiles, CVs, videos, assessment results, references) is provided for one purpose: assessing candidates for the role concerned. As to that information, the firm is an independent controller and agrees to: use it only for recruiting the role for which it was provided; comply with data protection law; keep it secure and confidential; not use it for marketing or any unrelated purpose; and delete it when the recruitment process for that role ends, except where the firm must keep it by law. Misuse of candidate information is a material breach entitling us to suspend or terminate the firm's account.

7. Acceptable use

All users must not: misuse or attempt to circumvent the Platform's security; scrape or bulk-extract data; upload unlawful, misleading or infringing content; impersonate others; or use the Platform for any purpose other than legitimate apprenticeship recruitment. We may suspend or remove accounts that breach these terms.

8. Intellectual property

The Platform, its software, branding and content (other than user content) belong to Data Law Limited or its licensors. You may not copy, modify or reuse them except as needed to use the service.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Platform available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change or improve features, and may amend these terms; material changes will be notified via the Platform or email, and the current version always carries the date above.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, we are not liable for: decisions made by firms; the conduct of candidates or firms; loss of profit or opportunity; or matters outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to a firm is limited to the fees paid by that firm in the 12 months before the claim; our total liability to a candidate is limited to £100. The Platform is provided for recruitment matching and nothing on it is legal or careers advice.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Platform at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms, unlawful conduct, or misuse of other users' data. Clauses that by their nature continue (including clause 6) survive termination.

12. Complaints, law and contact

If something goes wrong, tell us first: info@datalaw.org. Complaints about personal data are handled under our data protection complaints procedure with the right to complain to the ICO at any time. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Data Law Limited, Hubsquared, Baltic Triangle, Bridgewater Street, Liverpool L1 0AR.
